How it works

When a blood vessel is injured, tiny blood cells called platelets stick together to form a clot and stop bleeding.

Clopidogrel works by:

• Blocking a receptor on platelets called the P2Y12 ADP receptor.
• Preventing platelets from becoming activated and sticking together.
• Reducing the chance of harmful clots forming inside arteries.
