Name: Amoxiclav 625 mg (Sandoz) – Amoxicillin + Clavulanic Acid
How It Works:
Amoxiclav combines amoxicillin, a penicillin-type antibiotic that kills bacteria by disrupting their cell walls, with clavulanic acid, which blocks bacterial enzymes (β-lactamases) that could inactivate amoxicillin. This combination is used to treat bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin infections, and ear, nose, and throat infections.
Form: Tablets (Amoxicillin 500 mg + Clavulanic Acid 125 mg).
Warning:
- Always finish the full prescribed course to prevent antibiotic resistance.
- Avoid if allergic to penicillin or amoxicillin; seek medical help if rash, swelling, or breathing difficulty occurs.
- May cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or stomach upset.
- Inform your doctor of all medications to avoid harmful interactions.
