How it works
- Amoxicillin kills bacteria by stopping them from building their protective cell wall.
- Some bacteria produce an enzyme called beta-lactamase that can destroy antibiotics.
- Clavulanic acid blocks that enzyme, allowing amoxicillin to keep working effectively.
Common uses
It is used for bacterial infections such as:
- Ear infections
- Throat and sinus infections
- Chest/lung infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin infections
- Dental infections
