Gastrigel works by neutralizing excess stomach acid and reducing gas, rather than stopping your stomach from producing acid.

The ingredients work in different ways:

• Aluminum hydroxide reacts with stomach acid to make it less acidic, helping relieve heartburn and stomach irritation. It also coats the stomach lining to some extent.
• Magnesium hydroxide also neutralizes stomach acid quickly. It can have a mild laxative effect, which helps balance the constipating effect of aluminum hydroxide.
• Simethicone breaks up gas bubbles in the stomach and intestines, making gas easier to pass and reducing bloating.
