Ketamine Injection

Ketamine Injection

Common side effects

  • Increased heart rate and blood pressure
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Blurred vision
  • Increased saliva production

How it works

  • It blocks NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate) receptors in the brain.
  • This produces a dissociative state, meaning the patient becomes unaware of pain and surroundings while often maintaining breathing and protective airway reflexes better than with many other anesthetics.
