How Betahistine works

Betahistine is a histamine analogue that acts mainly on H1 and H3 histamine receptors. It is thought to:

1. Improve blood flow in the inner ear, particularly around the cochlea and vestibular system.
2. Reduce abnormal pressure/fluid buildup in the inner ear, which can contribute to Ménière’s symptoms.
3. Help the brain compensate for disturbances in the balance system, which can reduce episodes of vertigo over time.
