How it works
Nepafenac belongs to a group called NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).
It works by:
- Penetrating into the eye tissues
- Converting into an active form (amfenac)
- Blocking chemicals called prostaglandins
- These prostaglandins are what cause pain, redness, and swelling
So in simple terms:
It reduces inflammation inside the eye and helps healing after surgery.
Key points
- It is a suspension eye drop (must be shaken before use)
- Usually used for a short period (often around surgery time)
- Should not be used without a doctor’s prescription
