How to take it

  • Take it with food, preferably a meal or milk, as this greatly improves absorption of lumefantrine.
  • Take the medicine exactly as prescribed.
  • The standard adult regimen is 6 doses over 3 days:
    • First dose: immediately
    • Second dose: 8 hours later
    • Then one dose twice daily (morning and evening) for the next 2 days
  • If you vomit within 1 hour of taking a dose, you may need to repeat that dose. Contact your healthcare provider for advice.

Artemether 80 mg + Lumefantrine 480 mg is a combination antimalarial medicine used to treat uncomplicated malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum and other malaria parasites that are susceptible to this combination.

This strength is equivalent to four standard tablets (each containing artemether 20 mg + lumefantrine 120 mg) taken together.

Common uses

  • Treatment of uncomplicated malaria in adults and children who meet the appropriate weight criteria.
  • It is not used to prevent malaria.
