What it is used for

• Hypertension (high blood pressure)
• Angina (chest pain due to heart reduced blood flow)
• Sometimes used to reduce risk of stroke and heart attack in high-risk patients

How it works

Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker. It:

• Relaxes and widens blood vessels
• Makes it easier for the heart to pump blood
• Lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow to the heart
