Levofloxacin IV is an antibiotic. It works by stopping bacteria from copying and repairing their DNA.
How it works
- Levofloxacin enters the bacterial cell.
- It blocks two bacterial enzymes called DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV.
- These enzymes are needed for bacteria to unwind, copy, and repair their DNA.
- Without functioning DNA, the bacteria cannot multiply and eventually die.
