How it works

Atorvastatin belongs to a group of medicines called statins. It works by blocking an enzyme in the liver that’s needed to make cholesterol.

By inhibiting this process, atorvastatin:

• Lowers LDL (“bad”) cholesterol
• Lowers triglycerides
• Slightly increases HDL (“good”) cholesterol
