LIDOCAINE

LIDOCAINE

Common uses

  • Local anesthesia before stitches, minor surgery, or dental procedures
  • Numbing the skin or mucous membranes
  • Epidural and nerve block anesthesia
  • Treatment of certain serious ventricular heart rhythm abnormalities (when given intravenously)

How it works

  • It blocks sodium channels in nerves.
  • This prevents pain signals from traveling to the brain, causing temporary loss of sensation in the treated area.
