Product Details
- Name: Jawaclox (Ampicillin and Cloxacillin)
- How It Works: It is a combination antibiotic. Ampicillin is a broad-spectrum penicillin that kills various bacteria by preventing them from forming cell walls. Cloxacillin is added specifically to fight “penicillinase-producing” bacteria—strains that have developed enzymes to destroy regular penicillin. Together, they provide a more comprehensive defense against stubborn infections.
- Form: Oral Suspension (Syrup).
- Warning:
- This is a prescription-only medication; do not use without a doctor’s diagnosis.
- Allergy: Do not use if you have a known allergy to penicillin, cephalosporins, or other beta-lactam antibiotics.
- Complete the Course: You must finish the entire duration of the treatment, even if you feel better, to prevent antibiotic resistance.
- Side Effects: May cause nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Seek immediate medical help if you develop a severe skin rash, itching, or swelling of the face.
- Storage: Once the suspension is mixed with water, it must be stored in a refrigerator and discarded after 7 to 14 days (check the label for specific instructions).
