- Name: Gramocef-O 100 (Cefixime)
- How It Works: It is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by preventing bacteria from creating their protective cell walls. Without a stable cell wall, the bacteria burst and die, allowing the body’s immune system to clear the infection.
- Form: Powder for Oral Suspension (must be mixed with water to make a 100mg/5ml syrup).
- Warning:
- This is a prescription-only medication and must only be used under a doctor’s supervision.
- Allergy: Do not use if you are allergic to cefixime, other cephalosporins, or have a history of severe reactions to penicillin.
- Complete the Course: You must finish the entire duration of the treatment, even if you feel better, to prevent antibiotic resistance.
- Side Effects: May cause diarrhea, nausea, or stomach pain. Seek immediate medical help if you develop a severe, watery, or bloody skin rash or persistent diarrhea.
- Storage: Once the suspension is mixed with water, it should ideally be stored in a refrigerator and must be discarded after 14 days.
