The Mechanism of Action
- Blocks Microtubule Assembly: The drug binds to a specific protein called \(\beta \)-tubulin inside the parasite. This stops the tubulin from forming microtubules, which act as the internal structural transport system of the worm’s cells.
- Inhibits Glucose Absorption: Without functioning microtubules, the worm loses its ability to absorb glucose (sugar) from your digestive tract.
- Depletes Energy Stores: Starved of glucose, the worm rapidly burns through its internal glycogen reserves.
