Artemether 80 mg + Lumefantrine 480 mg<\/strong> is a combination antimalarial medicine<\/strong> used to treat uncomplicated malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum<\/em><\/strong> and other malaria parasites that are susceptible to this combination.<\/p>\n

This strength is equivalent to four standard tablets<\/strong> (each containing artemether 20 mg + lumefantrine 120 mg) taken together.<\/p>\n

Common uses<\/h3>\n

  • Treatment of uncomplicated malaria in adults and children who meet the appropriate weight criteria.<\/li>\n

    How to take it<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • Take it with food<\/strong>, preferably a meal or milk, as this greatly improves absorption of lumefantrine.<\/li>\n
    • Take the medicine exactly as prescribed<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • The standard adult regimen is 6 doses over 3 days<\/strong>:\n
        \n
      • First dose: immediately<\/li>\n
      • Second dose: 8 hours later<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • Then one dose twice daily<\/strong> (morning and evening) for the next 2 days<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • If you vomit within 1 hour<\/strong> of taking a dose, you may need to repeat that dose.
